Farnborough Airport, the home of British aviation and Europe’s leading airport for premium air travel connectivity, has today announced the appointment of Colin Flack as the new Chair of the Farnborough Aerodrome Consultative Committee (FACC), bringing with him a wealth of industry and sectorial expertise.
The FACC is a forum which is independent from the airport, whose membership comprises of elected persons, who between them represent a broad spectrum of interests, including users of the airport, local authorities, and community groups. The purpose of the FACC is to promote a common understanding amongst stakeholders of how the airport’s operations might have an impact on people, both positive and negative.
With over a decade of aviation industry experience, including Independent Chair of the Birmingham Airport Consultative Committee (BACC), in addition to a more recent appointment as Chair of the UK Airport Consultative Committee (UKACC), Colin will be responsible for chairing the FACC in accordance with the Guidelines for Airport Consultative Committees published by the Department for Transport.
Prior to his tenure at the UKACC and BACC, Colin served in the British Army for 26 years and has also developed a successful business in the railway sector. In recent years he completed an MSc at the University of Birmingham’s School of Engineering.
In addition to his roles at the UKACC and BACC, Colin is also an advisor to the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Colin will continue to fulfil these roles alongside his appointment to the FACC and is also in the process of studying for a PhD on the topic of aviation consultation and the stakeholder engagement process.
Colin Flack replaces Philip Riley, who joined the FACC as Chair in 2007. Commenting on his appointment, Colin said, “I look forward to joining the FACC and establishing a collaborative relationship with committee members, where all parties are able to engage with each other in a meaningful way, within the bounds of the remit of the Committee.”
